  • Dover Federal Raises Over $2,000 for
    Homes for Our Troops

As part of their commitment to the military and their families, Dover Federal Credit Union recently donated $2,143.96 to Homes for Our Troops, an organization that builds homes for severely injured Servicemen and Women. To raise the funds, Dover Federal held various raffles and a casual day at all five branch locations.

"Having served the Air Force for 50 years, we understand the sacrifices of the men and women who serve our country," commented Dover Federal President/CEO, David Clendaniel. "It was exciting to see our staff work together to support this great cause!"

Homes for Our Troops is a non-profit organization strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to their country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. Since 2004, they have helped dozens of families across the U.S., including one family in Milford, DE.

Dover Federal Credit Union Celebrates 50 Years

On June 21st, over 380 people attended Dover Federal's 50th Anniversary Celebration. The "Path to Gold" themed semi-formal/formal was greatly enjoyed by all that attended. The event began with welcome speeches from Russell L. McCready, Chairman of the Board, and David Clendaniel, CEO. The history of Dover Federal's success and dedication to its members was depicted through an entertaining video and a pictorial display that brought fond memories to many. Following the video, the recipients of the Mary Lovisone Award for Outstanding Member Service and the Albert Schmidt Leadership Award were announced. The Mary Lovisone Award for Outstanding Member Service was awarded to Richard Buckner from the Collections Department. Richard is vital in protecting the assets of the Credit Union, and works closely with members that are having financial troubles. His tactfulness and diplomacy in handling these situations is commendable. The Albert Schmidt Leadership Award was presented to Denise Breedlove, North DuPont Highway head teller. Denise does not hesitate to step up to any task requested of her, and was instrumental in the successful launch of the Smyrna branch. Both these awards are named for employees whose dedication and commitment to the "Dover Federal Way" is exemplary.

After the awards, there were more than 30 $50 gift cards presented to the lucky winners of the door prize drawings. Music from the talented band, "The Giant Steps" capped off the evening with dancing until 11:00 p.m.

    Modern Maturity Center Sends Thanks

"Thank you so much for being a gold sponsor for (the) Miles for Meals 5K this year. This event raised more than $6,000 for Meals on Wheels which should help us to offset the rising cost of food and fuel. Your continued support of the Modern Maturity Center and MANNA program is always appreciated."

    Students Learn About Credit Scores
Dover Federal visited 17 Polytech High School students on December 17, 2007 and presented an "Advanced Banking" class. The course educated students about credit scores: what they are, where the info comes from that goes into them, how they are calculated, how long info stays in your score, how to repair a damaged score, how to protect a good score, who looks at credit scores and why, and much more. Also discussed was the difference between credit and debit, and the impact of the Adjustable Rate Mortgage industry on the economy and credit scores. This is the fourth annual visit to Ms. Dorothy Wilson's class to discuss financial matters.
