Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions that are owned and operated by their members. With a focus on serving the underserved, our structure allows us to focus on people rather than profits.
Our History
Dover Federal Credit Union was first chartered in 1958 by a handful of Air Force and civilian workers at Dover Air Force Base. Their goal was to create a member-owned financial cooperative, democratically controlled by its members and operated for the purpose of promoting thrift, providing credit at competitive rates, and providing other financial services to its members. Today we serve over 40,000 members, encompassing the military, Delaware families, and over 450 Workplace Partners.

Since our founding in 1958, Dover Federal Credit Union has been a financial institution whose primary purpose was, and still is, to give back to the communities that we serve. We don’t just work here, we live here so our business extends far beyond the four walls of our branches, not because it is profitable, but because we care. We know that not everyone is fluent in financial management, but we also know that change starts with us. Here at Dover Federal, we believe that it is our responsibility to help our communities make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources. With financial literacy classes, one on one credit score analysis programs, and more, we are here to help.
Legendary Service
Good member service is important, but we believe that our members deserve better than good, they deserve “legendary”. This only happens by creating a service focused environment that focuses on people, and serving those who are typically underserved.
